This was my 4th cruise with NCL...the first a couple of decades ago. Have not sailed with them recently and was surprised at the nickel and dime-ing that occurs now. We brought 2 bottles of wine on board that is allowed, and were charged $15 per bottle for corkage fee. The wine was for our cabin, not to be brought into the dining areas. I also ordered a bottle of wine pre-cruise to have delivered to our cabin. They now charge a service fee for this on top of the overpriced wine. This was new to me.
The cabin itself was a nice size, and so was the balcony. Probably because it is an older ship. The meals in the Specialty Restaurants were delicious. There were a variety, from the Steakhouse (my favorite), French Bistro, Italian. We didn't get a chance to try the Japanese Hibachi restaurant. NCL had a special going on in which we had a choice of Specialty Dining of the Beverage package. Since my Mother doesn't drink, and I'm not an all day drinker, we went with the dining package. Good thing because the food in the main dining room was mediocre. We had eaten there one evening. The only other positive about the cruise was the elaborate show on the 6th night of the cruise. That was it for the good.
The staff on board appeared to be new, as they didn't know what they were doing. We did not see our Cabin steward until very late on the first night. This was only because I had to call to get someone to unlock the refrigerator. She had forgotten to do so. We rarely saw her during the week, and she never bothered to ask if all was well. The staff during the lunch buffets weren't much better. They would grab your plate of food that you've just placed on the table, but had to leave to go get a beverage. Make sure someone stays at the table. They never asked if needed anything such as sugar or milk. They were not in sync with the passengers. The variety of food on the buffet line was not up to par. Not like other cruise lines I've sailed with. The quality of food was not the best.
