For context, it's probably worth mentioning that we've previously cruised with Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, NCL and P&O Oceana. I really hoped that previous poor reviews were just teething troubles or people with exceptionally high standards. Sadly, much of what has been written is, in our experience justified and pretty accurate.
Flight and Embarkation:
Flew Dreamliner with Thomson from Manchester. All good - flight was on time, plane very good. It was a treat checking in luggage and not seeing it again until it arrived in our cabin. This is where P&O excel. Their organisation in embarkation is excellent.
A perfect start to the holiday. We virtually had the catamaran to ourselves. The crew were all very good; drinks were free flowing and they provided nibbles. Topped off by a perfect sunset.
We took an open bus from the port on an island tour which was good fun and allowed us to spend time on the beach.
Spent the day at the beach which was very pleasant.
After a slight hitch at the start when the driver didn't have a car big enough to accommodate us, once we were underway, this was excellent. Duns River Falls is a must do if you're going to Jamaica.
Oh my! Not sure why this is on the itinerary. We didn't bother with a tour as I didn't want to go into the rainforest (as I'm very attractive to mosquitos). We walked into town. There's nothing there! Stay on the ship or go on a tour.
We took a water taxi to the beach (beware they are very overloaded). The beach was very crowded and there aren't many facilities.
