We have completed our eighth cruise with Celebrity on the Solstice. It was a 14 day journey from Auckland NZ to Sydney Aus. It was our second trip with the Solstice.
We stayed at the Auckland Hilton pre cruise. We highly recommend that stay. Everyone there were friendly, caring and very informative. The exciting part was the morning of our cruise the ship actually docked off our hotel balcony. Embarkation was only close but went quickly and smoothly.
We were in stateroom 1048 which was concierge. Our complaint was it was the room behind the area where the ship juts out and so our forward view was poor which we missed coming into port. We thought a concierge room could have been a little better.
It was located just behind the area that juts out of the ship. Our forward view was not the best. I thought for a concierge it could have been a room with a better view. It was a great location on the ship. If we would have been on the other side of the area that jutted out, it would have been much better.
After a beautiful countryside ride which pictures could not bring the beauty we arrived at the hobbiton movie set. It was a 5 star experience. There was a fair amount of walking which would have been difficult for any handicap but it was worth the exercise. Not to be missed.
disappointing. It only lasted 7 minutes. It was followed my the wildlife sanctuary of which we only saw some birds and lizards. Skip the sanctuary and talk the walk down through the flower gardens which align the cable car.
lots of walking and saw only birds and a few lizards. The tour guide was very devoted to their work.
We walked to the Cadbury candy factory and did the tour having been bused to town. Very nice and fun. We went to the railroad station. It was beautiful and worth the visit. We visited the brewery. Weather in New Zealand was not the kindest.
not to be missed. Our visit was in pouring rain but was so worth the animals and our interaction with them.
It was a long ride for a less then 30 minute ride. Puffin Billy was cool. we were told it was run by volunteers. I think I would get on the on and off bus in Melbourn and seen the city. The beach off the ship was beautiful and fun to walk around.
The city was beautiful and clean. We did the Waiheke wine tasting. It was fun and if you want to see the beautiful countryside, this is the way to do it. No regrets.
We walked to the Giant's House. It was a bit of a walk and uphill a great deal but it was well worth the walk. The artist mosaics are unbelievable and each turn was better then the one before. Not to be missed.
