This was our 11th cruise and first on Carnival. We sailed out of Barbados. We had some appartment in the middle of nowhere, even the taxi could not find it. Because there where only a few hundred people embarking, this was really fun. No lines, very quick. The cabine was already done before noon. Only the luggage took a while. We where hungry so we went to the lido. The breakfast was just gone, but the deli just started. We ate some warm sandwich with ham and cheese. When the luggage arrived we changed for the pool. The weather was perfect every day, just de last morning there was some rain in Barbados. We haven't seen many activities, not one show in the Venetian, only on the seaday we noticed some near the pool. On other cruises there was more activitie. The service was good. Shore excursions where okay, but getting to the busses was very chaotic. Sometimes you didn't know were to go. We had some long excursions and when we got back on the ship around 3 pm we had to hurry to get something to eat because the buffets in the Lido where all closing. Other cruiselines (Costa; Norwegian; Celebrity) do this much better. After closing the buffets, the lines at the deli, pizza and burger were very long. The cabin was fine, great bed, a lot of storage, and a very good cabin steward. Also there were many plugs, even one for 220volt. One of the main activities on board is dining, we had "on youre time" in the golden dining room, and that was really disapointing. The first day we ordered a steak, it was cold so it went back. The second day i ordered a steak and it was cold, the second one was over cooked (i want medium red), the head waiter went to the kitchen himself to look after the 3rd which was excellent. Day 3 we had enough from the dining room and went to the Lido. This was the worst diner we ever had on a cruise ship. I guess that carnival people only want to go to the silver and golden dining rooms. Day 4, we went back to the golden and we ordered a steak and asked the waiter for a warm peace of meat. When they put it on the table, the plate was really hot, but the meat on it was cold. The manager went to the chef and we got a new one, now it was hot. This was on feb 6 and my wife's birthday was the next day. So we had a table in the diamond steakhouse. I told them the day before that it was the birthday of my wife, they called me in the cabin and asked for her name, when we got there it was on the list, so everything was arranged. The waiters where really working hard to make it an excellent evening, the food was 100% better then in the main dining room. When we got the check to sign i asked him if he hasn't forget something. He said what? I said only: look at yous guest list. (there sang already for two people). We got a bottle of wine for the mistake. So day 6 we were again in teh golden dining room. We told our waiter about the cold steaks and he told us: you will get hot steaks. We got them and they went back, they were colder then ever. The canadian's next to us asked what happened and we told them the story. They agreed with us. When there food was standing there around for more than 10! minutes they yust eat it. They had a steak too. Most people are afraid to complain about something they paid good money for. Maybe when more people asked for warm food, the cruiseline would do a better job. On the norwegian spirit we got only one day cold food, after that it was always okay. (When the manager saw us he went to the waiter, wispering in his ear). The last day we went back to the steakhouse, and again the food was warm. Worth its money. Guys burgers were better then MC D. burgers, but not as good as in our home town. Deli made some nice sandwiches. The omelets for breakfast were well made. The mongolian wok was fine, only it took a while before you where gone. The rest of the buffet was not bad but also not good. Not really warm food, not much choice. What surprised us was the fact that we never had to search for a table. Not for breackfast, neither for lunch. On other cruises we sometimes had to search more than 5 minutes for a chair. The icecream was always available, never had a cruise were you could take icecream every minute of the day, and i love icecream. I was almost every morning in the gym, and what i saw there was not good. Most people didn't clean up after there exercise on the machines. Disembarkation was easy because only a few hundred of people went of the ship. We could stay until 1 pm, an after that we took a taxi to the airport. Besides the cold steaks it was a pleasant cruise. Overall it was not that what we expected.

Cabin Review

Ocean View
Cabin 6B 2429
Our cabin #2429 was a nice size with much storage facilities. We liked the ocean view window. Our cabin steward kept it very clean and orderly and we were never disappointed with any aspect of the cabin amenities or service.
