My husband and I had booked a cruise on Norwegian sky for Feb 1-5 and after booking it I went to this site, read some reviews, and was wicked nervous that we had just booked a cruise from hell. From first stepping onto the ship to stepping off the ship disembarking our experience was absolutely wonderful. All the staff that we ran into were amazing, wonderful, and willing to help us out any way possible. Both cruise director Tyler and Assistant Cruise director Kristine were great! Food/Drinks--My husband is a picky eater and found that there was a lot of food for him to eat at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We mainly ate at the buffet and food was good, got repetitive after a while but still good. We did eat at Cagneys and the Italian restaurant and prices for both was well below what we had thought they would be. Meals at both restaurants were delicious. If you can, please eat at one of these places. We did have a snag, we made reservations for both and both times they stated our reservation was somewhere else. I know they were wrong because when we made the reservations we had the person write it down for us. There was no problem in getting in as we went between 6-630 and both places were very empty at that time so wasn’t a huge problem, but still a snag we didn’t want to encounter. Drinks were unlimited and yes at times you stood in line for a while just to get your drink because they only had 1 bartender, however, there are waitresses around the pool asking if you want drinks and there are multiple of places to get a drink so it didn’t spoil our vacation. Room—when going on a cruise you have to know the bathroom and room will be very small from what you are used to. We had no problem with the beds, unlike other people who posted and hatted the mattress. When we booked, we booked an aft room with a balcony and if you can afford a balcony do it as we loved the extra space and views from the balcony. We sat out on the balcony every morning checking out the island and every afternoon into the night to sit relax and watched the sunset. Bathroom wasn’t too bad for my husband or I, but yes it was small and shower was about the size maybe a little bit bigger of a phone booth(if anyone remembers using them). Ports of call----1) Freeport, we docked at 7am, but were cleared to go ashore around 8am. There is this little shopping area with some bars right as you get off the ship, however, for beaches and bigger shopping you need to go downtown which we were told is about a 20minute taxi ride. We just did some little shopping and then went back on the ship to enjoy the pool and ship as most of the guests had gotten off. 2) Nassau, we did the Atlantis shore excursion and that was amazing. We got to the Atlantis around 12, hr guided tour of the main building and the aquarium, and then we were free to do whatever we wanted rest of the day. If you don’t want the guided tour, you don’t have to stay, but it was nice to hear stories and information about the hotel and aquarium. We had lunch overlooking the lagoon, gambled, walked around(place is amazing to take it and look at all the beauty and what it has to offer), then took shuttle back to ship where we walked bay street and checked out another little shopping plaza area before we got back on the ship. 3) their private island Great Stirrup Cay, we took the 915 tendor boat to the island and they made us wait till boat was almost filled which was about 20-30mins and then another 10min boat ride to island which I wasn’t happy with. We got a beach chair, but by 11am most beach chairs were taken and people had just put down towels and sat on those. They have a bbq on island that is free and same food as on ship but was free and good which is all we cared for. We didn’t do any excursions, just laid on beach, went swimming, relaxed, and checked out the small shopping area before we got back on the tendor boat. Entertainment—we went to the casino every night and played some slots, black jack, and roulette. Casino is small and gets crowded later in the night, but we won and had a good time. They offer bingo, deal or no deal, they had a comedian who was funny but average, family feud, battle of the sexes, name that tune, and shows every night but we weren’t able to see them except the comedian. Most of the things are corny, but made us laugh , and kept us entertained. We are husband and wife and in our early 30’s. We have traveled all over the place and stayed in some great hotels and not so great hotels. This was our first cruise together and yes it was only a 4 day cruise and was short(I wish we had at least 1 day at sea), but we knew what type of cruise we were booking when we booked. Please don’t take the negative reviews by heart, keep an open mind and make the cruise what you want out of it. You are on a vacation, just relax, have a couple of drinks, take in the scenery, take in what the ship has to offer, and most important have fun. Overall we had an amazing time and I give this ship and staff an 8 out of 10.
