We sailed EMERALD PRINCESS December 19-27, 2015, in Caribe 742 to Aruba, Curacao and Bonaire. Caribe 742 is the last stateroom on the port side. The balcony is partially covered and is slightly wider than all the other port-side cabins due to the ship’s design at the back. We’ve cruised during Thanksgiving and New Year’s, but this was our first Christmas cruise. Prior to booking, we read about Christmas on-board and all the activities, so we were really looking forward to that experience, plus the four sea days. Unfortunately we experienced mechanical and service difficulties and our surveys back to PRINCESS expressed our dissatisfaction. The numerous cutbacks from our June 2015 PRINCESS cruise to this one was glaring. What disappointed us the most was the departure of service standards that we have enjoyed on our previous PRINCESS experiences.

We found the Princess@Sea App terrific! Loved having the “Patter” and the on-board account charges right on our phones along with a very useful (and heavily used) messaging ability – all without paying a dime for internet connection! Definitely see possibilities for more capabilities on this App in future editions.

We stayed pre-cruise at Hilton Garden Inn Ft. Lauderdale Airport-Cruise Port, 180 SW 18th Avenue, Dania Florida. Typical Hilton property. Complimentary airport/hotel shuttle and also evening shuttle service to six different restaurants, which was a really nice touch! The hotel had available a paid hotel/cruise terminal shuttle for $20/pp. We took a taxi from this hotel to the cruise terminal for $31 (including tip).
