Slightly apprehensive as I was somewhat immobile for this trip.... and we were reliant on what the ship had to offer because we could not do any excursions or even get off the ship unless we were moored up as opposed to having to tender in by lifeboats. we have cruised with Oceania before and we had high expectations - which were fully met this time.
We need not have worried about being restricted to the ship, the enrichment programme was excellent, both lecturers very informative entertaining and quirky. And terrific variety. Both did not use notes and were extremely knowledgable and very friendly. Some lecturers can be knowledgable, others read form notes they have clearly read many times before and other simply cannot perform.
The entertainment was interesting, we particularly enjoyed the pickpocket expert and have decided to increase our personal security both at home and when we travel, as a result of what we learned, again in an amusing way.
The painting classes however were a disappointment. The artist was pleasant but did not know how to teach and he needed more guidance. I have done painting classes before and again, it is not good enough to be able to do something yourself, you have to be able to explain it to others!
Not doing the excursions gave us the unexpected bonus of having the ship pretty much to ourselves when we were in port - blissful! also loved the old fashioned gentleman's library and the adjacent coffee bar and internet room...all very handy.....
excellent ... comfortable beds! our bathroom sparkled and looked brand new ... and the bath was gorgeous, just what my aching limbs needed!
unable to take any excursions owing to recent back injury....
unable to get off ship
