My husband and two kids, 22 and 19. Were on Carnival Liberty out of Puerto Rico. The last cruise time we cruised was about 18 years ago on Carnival for my sister's wedding and we had almost the same itinerary. Prior to that, my husband and I had been on several Royal Caribbean cruises.

I can appreciate a gourmet meal and I can also thoroughly enjoy casual, bar food - I am not a high maintenance person. I chose this particular cruise line for the price point and the port heavy itinerary. My family did not plan on being in the cabin much. We had planned on visiting each island. Since we would not be on the ship most of the day, the food was not a priority.

We had two cabins. Both on the same deck and both cost the same price. both cabins had two twin beds. One cabin had three closets and extra set of drawers a couch and a coffee table. The other cabin had one closet and a small side table. I was not too happy to know that I paid the same price for both cabins.

Cabin Review

Ocean View

Nice size room considering the last cruise I went on was 18 years ago and we could barely move in the cabin. But I had two cabins on the same deck and one was clearly larger and had more storage than the other. Had I not been able to compare the two it would not have bothered me. But seeing both and paying the same money for both was a bit upsetting.

Port Reviews

San Juan

We only walked around the city on the day of embarkation. But enjoyed a bar we stopped in

St. Thomas

We took the ferry over to St John. In hindsight - may have been worth it to take an excursion. I love St John and love the beaches there. But by the time you take a taxi - $14 per person each way and then pay on St John - it may be worth an excursion. But the upside is that we really weren't on a touristy beach packed with people. The downside is that the 4:30 time to get back on ship makes it difficult to travel to a beach that is far from port

Barbados

Even with the rain - we had a great time. Took our own cab to a beach and swam with turtles and hung out on the beach and had fun at a local bar

St. Kitts (Port Zante)

Took a cab to the beach. Views were spectacular. The beach was very small and lot of seaweed. Said their were bathroom facilities at the bar.......my husband warned us that was not a word he would use to describe the bathrooms, so we stayed away.

St. Maarten

I had planned on staying on the ship this day. I just wanted to go over and purchase something. We ended up taking the water taxi and walking around all day. I wish I had known how beautiful the beach was right there and the great deals the bars offered - $20 for 2 beach chairs umbrella and 5 beer or 2 mixed drinks. We would have worn our bathing suits
