From the first day to the last, we had a wonderful time on the Spirit.
Our day started with easy parking at the port and walking right up to our port agent. I'd say from the car to the ship, it took less than 25 minutes. We arrived after 1 pm so our room was ready and we spent the next hour unpacking and decorating our room and balcony. Off to the muster drill, met some nice folks, then off to the closest bar for the NFL playoffs. OK, the venues are not that great for watching sporting events, but we made the best of it and met some great people who shared our dislike for the Patriots. Even though they beat the Chiefs, it turned out to be a great time! Overall, our experience that day carried over for the whole trip.
Here's what we liked the most: the crew! They were some of the nicest folks around. Everyone was friendly, professional, fun, and always there with extra service. We enjoyed our time with Putu at Shanghai Bar, Jimmy at Champagne Charlies, and Mario who was all over the ship.
The cabin was fine and the obstructed balcony was better than expected. Plenty of room for two people. We did not hear the Splash Academy above us however we could hear the performers practicing a couple times during the day as this room is directly above the Stardust Theater.
This is our least favorite port. We got off, walked to the Hard Rock Cafe to purchase a pin, visited a couple stores then right back on the ship. Would much rather have gone to a private island for the day.
Parking at the port was easy and convenient
Went to the beach at Phillipsburg. $15 for 2 chairs and an umbrella and $10 for a bucket of 5 beers. We were there early so we were seated in the front row closest to the water. The $15 also included restrooms (little sketchy) and fresh water (which turned out to be a hose). Lots and lots of folks trying to sell their wares.
