This was our fifth cruise on RCL (Emerald) and first on Quantum Class. As most of you have read, this was a ten-day cruise extended one day due to Storm Jonas. To begin with, I want to compliment the Captain, Cruise Director Abe Hughes, and his staff. Communication regarding the storm was frequent and updated as needed. Also, Abe was awesomely candid keeping passengers up-to-date with the frequent schedule changes. RCL did everything possible to make passengers comfortable (except open bar), including opening internet access to everyone for the last few days of the cruise and reducing pay restaurant fees by 25% the last (11th unplanned) night. They also played the NFC and AFC play-off games where they could show it since it was too cold to watch outside. The ports of call were fine and unremarkable (seen one island seen them all). Here is where it gets a bit iffy:

Ship - The Anthem of the Seas is the creakiest ship I have ever been on, even on calm seas. Our cabin creaked sooo much the first night (granted the weather was awful), that we called maintenance. I felt guilty because the seas were so rough and I did not want to be a complainer. Thank goodness the cabin creaked when maintenance arrived. He was able to fixed the problem with a drill. No problems after that except for what appears to be normal creaking throughout on this ship, including the Royal Theater. I especially liked Two 70, which is a venue at the rear of the ship which serves as restaurant (alternative to Wind Jammer), entertainment venue, dance lounge, and a place to hang our and read a book. There is a smaller promenade than the Oasis/Freedom/Voyager Classes, but it is a nice place to people watch while having a cup of coffee, which is very strong and supposed to be Seattle's Finest. Vintages is very isolated and I never observed it very busy compared to Vintages on the promenade.

Cabin - Balcony D1, beside the creakiness as described above, the cabin had a ton of storage and was very comfortable. The water pressure was remarkably awesome. The service was excellent. If you want room service, order the night before because if you order that same morning, it will be too late. The flat screen televisions also serve as computer screens for dining options, cruise compass, billing, etc...you can order room service on the tv, which was awesome.

Port Reviews

St. Maarten

Got off ship, took ferry to beach and hung out on the beach for a couple of hours. Water was nice, beach chairs were plentiful (don't pay more than $10 for two). However, islanders walk up and down the beach trying to sell you stuff, which is annoying.
