Sail Date: Dec 2015

This was our second family Christmas trip with Viking. Last year was spectacular when we all went on the Christmas Markets cruise. We were all very skeptical if going on an ocean cruise with Viking could come close. Yes, we missed the Christmas markets, but Viking did an outstanding job of making our Christmas 2015 special.

The ship was/is really well conceived with the various restaurants, pools, exercise rooms, spa, steam rooms, massages, coffee bar and food! The embarkation was as simple as with the river cruise. It was so easy to learn the ship, and get around to the various functions. Our Penthouse Veranda, 1521, was spacious, very organized and comfortable. The main restaurant was very organized and the food was excellent. As with the larger cruise ships, we had multiple choices for our courses, and plenty of quality food!

The biggest surprise for us was with the two specialty restaurants Manfred's and The Chef's Table. Their food was some of the best any of us had ever had. The steaks were spectacular, and cooked perfectly. We visited The Chef's Table twice for two different menus, and we're very pleased with the creativeness, food quality and of course their service. And, there was no additional charge to go to those restaurants! We are preparing for a "non-Viking "cruise in March in the Caribbean; and those specialty restaurants cost $45-$55 more per person!

Everything was to the highest standard; and the cabin attendants were very courteous and helpful.
