I believe that if you look for the good on a cruise, most times you will have a good time. We have been on 3 other Carnival Cruises and I felt this ship didn't compare to some of them, however we managed to have a great time!

The boarding process was painless. A porter met us outside, took our luggage and since we had filled out the preboarding information online, we were on the ship within 15 minutes.

We headed directly to the lido deck to get familiar with the buffet options but never quite made it. Started with Guy's Burgers which is located at the corner of the pool- we loved them, but I only indulged in one helping of those delicious greasy fries! The other corner of the pool housed the taco and burrito bar. Definately suggest you try the burritos!

Balcony

Cabin 8B

We had the queen bed set up. There are two chairs and a small table on the balcony. The shower is rectangular which gives you a little more shower space. There is a pull wire clothes line that allows you to dry your suit after swimming. The water in the shower is hot! Be sure to check it before you get in. The room had lots of storage space. Two large closets, drawers and a few cabinets.

Port Reviews

Aruba

We had vacationed in Aruba so were familiar and comfortable with the island. Don't wait for a taxi at the port..instead walk outside the gate and there is a taxi line across the street (you will see the sign). They quoted us $21 to go to Arashi beach. We paid $5 at the outside taxi, PLUS we gave the driver a time to come back and pick us up. The snorkeling was good, but not fantastic. Next time I would try Baby Beach - A very unscenic place, but underwater at the mouth of baby beach has some excellent reefs. We went back out at night and hit the Crystal Casino...the tourists had cleared out and the street was a bit sketchy. It was an uneventful trip back to the ship none the less.

Bonaire

This is my new favorite island. It reminded me of how Aruba used to be 30 years ago. We went to Spice beach where they charge you for a chair or cabana. It wasn't too crowded when we got there and the variety of fish were unbelievable! You walk out ontop of a reef (rocky) and then there is a 6 foot drop off...under where you just jumped off is where the fish are. Easy access and cheap taxi ride ($2.50 each). There is a bar and bathroom. There was a restaurant but wasn't open while we were there. Not alot of hawking of goods that you find on Mexican beaches..if you are looking for easy snorkeling this is your place!

Grand Turk

Town is located 4 miles away, so we walked down the dock and hit the tourist trap. Margarittaville was crowded with two ships in port. The pool was rocking and the beach area was crowded. They had free wifi in a little alley area which was quite crowded. There was plenty of craft huts, expensive tourist stores and a bar. A Pina Colada cost $10 but was worth it. Swimming was crystal clear with a sandy bottom. It was a little strange swimming so close to the ships, but if you don't mind a crowd...want to get in the water or take the kids to the pool...it is a fun place to be. Not for everyone if you don't like tourist spots. Good and close for those that don't want to venture too far.
