After a totally miserable experience on RCI in Greece, it was good to get back on Carnival. Yes the Sensation is an old ship, but we actually enjoy the smaller ships more than the larger ones. With that being said embarkation and debarkation were probably the best we have ever had. We were checked in and on the ship in under 15 minutes. Debarkation, we did self assist and were off the ship and through customs in 5 minutes. Port Canaveral always seems to have it together compared to other ports.
The food in the main dining room was excellent on this cruise. Everything was hot which is a step above the usually warm that most ships food is. We ordered the Steakhouse menu one night and had the strip, surf and turf, and the filet, all were cooked perfect and tasted excellent. The Lido buffet has never been great and is still just okay. Deli and pizza are pretty good. The only downside was the sea day brunch. We waited an hour and ten minutes to get our food in an empty dining room.
We had an ocean view cabin on the main deck. It was kept spotless and our steward always made sure we had clean towels and our ice was full. The hallway did smell of cigarettes, but it wasn't a big deal. The staff all over the ship were extremely friendly and helpful. Exactly what we have come to expect from Carnival.
