We chose this cruise for the itinerary --wanted to go way south to guarantee warm weather. After reading reviews, we were a little apprehensive. We were pleased to find the ship in excellent condition. Personnel were charming.
Did My Time dining, and were treated like royalty by our waiters, Johnnie and Avi. The food was far superior to Norwegian, where we ate in specialty restaurants because main dining was so unpleasant. The only specialty restaurant on Adventure was nice, but we missed our fabulous waiters in My Time.
Our cabin steward, Oneal kept the place spotless, and he was very pleasant every time we saw him. Great cabin, balcony on deck 9 mid ships toward forward. Unfortunately the bed was hard as a rock.
Liked the layout, with the bed next to the balcony. Lots of cubbies for storage. Room steward kept the place spotless. Bed is bad. Hard as a rock, but our steward did the best he could with extra padding and pillows.
Had been to Magen's bay previously on an excursion. So this time we took a taxi right there. Rented some chairs, drank pins coladas, and floated. Liked that we could use an Amex card.
Disappointed the ship warned how unsafe it was so we did not take our camera. It was expensive to take a taxi to the beaches, but having been to Carambola 20 years ago, I wanted to go back. The resort is open now, and it is like paradise. The seas were rough that day (actually all week) but it was a good day. The sand crabs are adorable. Wish we had the camera. This beach is totally secure, and you don't have to pay to use the chairs.
Went to Millers beach. $20 for 2 chairs, including a wooden umbrella. The credit card machine was not working :( Watch your head on the wooden umbrella . The surf was rough, with a lot of dead seaweed/coral.
But hey, nice to be in the scenic Caribbean in January.
Taxied to Reduit beach. Not expensive for the ride but once there , it is very crowded, and you are constantly harassed to buy stuff. They invited us to sit in some raggedy old chairs, which we thought were gratis. Later some bum came over wanting $25 bucks. The surf was really rough. Not a pleasant experience. Never again.
Just walked around the port a little. Enjoyed the rest of day in the pools on the ship. We were next to a gigantic Princess ship. We left port first, and the princess ship signaled with the love boat theme. Very cute.
Stayed at Hotel Milano in OSJ. Nice boutique hotel on a quaint street. Fantastic breakfast at Casablanca.
Walked to El Morro. It was a beautiful day, and the fort is vey impressive.
