At the beginning -My wife and I booked back to back cruises on Britannia at the end of March 2014 covering Christmas, New Year and the first 2 weeks of Jan 2016. The package included premium economy travel, on board spend benefit and A Deck balcony accommodation. While away on holiday in Oct 2014 P&O advised our booking agent that out flight from Gatwick would no longer have premium seating. By the time we arrived back from holiday all spare premium seating on other flights had been re-allocated. We were offered a credit for the outbound flight but no alternative option for premium seating. It took from Nov 15 until mid Jan 16 to resolve this issue under the threat of 'can I have my money back please' before a senior executive of Carnival (at no cost to us) intervened. P&O management were unwilling to resolve the matter unless we paid more money.

The outward bound flight with Thomas Cook was just about satisfactory given that most things seemed to cost money beyond a typical hot/cold meal. The flight back to Gatwick was so much better with Thomson Airways and free drinks could have been served but someone said no?

Transfers from Barbados to the ship ran smoothly as did the embarkation and we were met by our smiling steward (the star of the cruise).

Cabin Review

Cabin BALCONY

A touch smaller than expected although the fit out, bed and shower room were quite good. The balcony was adequate however we had problems with air conditioning system ( appeared to be a design issue)and tv failure. Without the help of the steward and then the floor manager nothing would have been fixed. Room service was good but our steward was excellent and following his efforts with the ac/tv challenges we recommended him for an award.
