I've done a few cruises but this was the worse. I paid for a balcony cabin but when we arrived at our cabin it was a waste of money. We were in 10024 which didn't have glass railings but steel so when you sat in the tiny space all you saw was sky. The sliding door didn't lock and there was a noise as the wind whipped by. It took them 3 days to fix the door. I asked if we could change cabins as we wanted a view but were told " Don't you know this is a NYE cruise " um I think I knew that seeing I booked it.

But soon we met other people who booked inside cabins but when they boarded they were up graded to balcony cabins with wonderful views. How fair is that, all people who booked balcony cabins paid the same price but our cabin you can't sit and stare at the sea, yet people who paid less get the up grade to great cabins. Totally unfair. Plus the ships officers had their families on board for the cruise and they were given balcony cabins.

We booked this cruise cause it went to Casablanca BUT the day before arrival there we were told that due to the "weather " we were not going there any more but to Gibraltar. Quite a few people did some checking and found that the weather in Casablanca was fine with no troubles getting into or out of the harbor. Plus a friend of mine did the same cruise 2 years ago on the same ship at the same time of year and this happened to them as well..... strange. I know you can't control the weather but was that true or is there something else stopping the ship from going there.

Staff were pleasant enough but some of the passengers are down right rude. I watched people just drop food on the floor and walk away or tell the staff to clean it up. lining up in the buffet was a terrible experience with people pushing and bumping into you. But when you complain to staff it was " what can we do " look on there faces. People would smoke in non smoking areas but staff wouldn't say anything to them. Children would jump and splash in the adults pool but nothing was said, including wearing nappies into the pool. There is a 15% service charge on anything you buy or do on this ship. The main dining room was so squashed that it was had to walk to your table.

Civitavecchia was were we disembarked but that was a terrible time. After waiting 2 hrs to get off the boat there was a good 20 minute walk to where our bags where. once we cleaned customs we went looking for a taxi. There were buses there to take people on tours but no one to help people leaving the ship. Some one just pointed and said wait there,so we stood waiting for a taxi for 1/2 hr but nothing came. So we ended up walking the 3 k's to get out of the wharf area into town pushing suitcases. Once in the town we found out that NO taxi's are aloud in the wharf area. Yet no one from MSC had told the people disembarking and there would of been 40 or more people waiting. It's like well you are getting off now so we don't need to help you any more.

If you want to do a cruise DO NOT chose MSC.
