Inside staterooms have a virtual porthole (video monitor that displays an outside picture in real time).  Sometimes an animated character "swims" by as well!

Park off-site & shuttle in-- it's much cheaper than parking at the port.

Port Canaveral (Orlando)

Bring your own towels from the ship (they do not provide any towels at this park). Take a city cab (white with red stripes, right outside the dock), $30 one way for 6 of us. Both our cab drivers were very friendly.  At the entrance, since we wanted to zip line there at the park, & the zip lining portion was owned by a third party, we were escorted to their desk, & then had to pay our park entrance in cash (about $21 pp) but was able to pay for zip lining using a cc (about $60 pp, depending on the length you choose). The photos they take of you zip lining was sold as "all or nothing".  $60 for the CD. The zip lining was fun (it was our 1st time) & the zip line attendants were very friendly & helpful. They expect a cash tip at the end. There is also a pool, lagoon, beach, sea lion show & restaurant with lots of shade huts, lounge chairs & umbrellas.  The park was very clean and the employees were very pleasant.

Everyone advises that you do not leave the gated port unless you are on an excursion as the town outside the gate is not safe for walking.  We followed this advice.  There are lots of shops at the port and the young adults in our group enjoyed themselves at the pool at Margaritaville (which is inside the port as well).  If you purchase the expensive food there, you can get a password to use their wifi for no extra charge.

Falmouth

Our 15 year old son & 17 year old niece had a really fun time on the teenage shore excursion which included biking, snorkeling, speed boating, lunch, & games.  If you do not have a friend already, they put you in small groups.

Moby Dick Tours- snorkeling was included in our sting ray adventure.

Moby Dick Tours was the only stingray tour that would accept babies (we had a 6 month old with us) on the boat. It was $45 pp, cash, (the baby was free) & included a bus ride from the port to the marina (it was very easy to find them under their canopy), about 45 minutes of snorkeling (they provided the equipment) & about 45 minutes of swimming with the sting rays in the middle of the ocean in chest deep water.  They were very friendly, knowledgeable & helpful.  They were the only tour operators (that I could see), who brought a bucket of stingray "food" to throw in periodically so that the stingrays would swim right around us.  Even though the water was only chest deep (I'm 5'2"), it was extremely rough (I had a hard time standing upright) so I was glad that my boys were a little older (12 & 15). (They also provide life vests.) There was a shower as you climb back on the boat for rinsing off, a dispenser of punch & a dispenser of water (with those little cone cups), a toilet (although it wasn't working so they told us not to use it), & shade on about half of the boat. When we got back to the marina, their bus was waiting to take us back to the dock.  We had about an hour to shop before we had to take the tender back to the ship. (Grand Cayman is a very expensive place to shop & eat-- a small smoothie at Burger King cost me $8 USD!).  The people there are very friendly & I felt very safe.

If you must iron your formal wear, do so well before formal night as there is only 1 iron per laundry room)

Type up another schedule that will be posted in each cabin which includes day/date, where you'll be (boarding, sea day, port), scheduled activity (shore excursion, adult restaurant, beach), reservation time/meeting place & evening dining room assignment (you will rotate through 3 different dining rooms each night-- you can leave this column blank & then pencil it in when you get your dining tickets).MISC THINGS I PACK TO MAKE MY LIFE EASIER

small pad of paper, highlighter, wire hangers that I don't mind leaving behind (there are never enough in the closets for everything I like to hang), light up clock, multi USB charger (at least 20 W), lots of sunscreen, "Safe Sea" (anti jellyfish/sea lice lotion- available on Amazon), night light, re-fillable water bottles, beach/pool bag, small bills for bargaining in ports, 2 sets of swimsuits each, some private shore excursions take only cash- check b4 hand, packaged snacks for port days (granola bars, raisins, ect-- many ports will not allow you to bring fresh food off the ship- like fruit or sandwiches), water proof watch, dish soap for rinsing out swim suits & re-fillable water bottles, various size zip lock bags (for many different uses that you won't know about until the time comes!
