My DW and I just got back from a week on the Spirit (Jan 9-16). It was our 3rd on NCL and 6th overall. We are in our mid forties, took our 10 yr old for her first cruise, and intended to relax.
The reviews before we left concerned us, but noted some of the comments to compare to our journey.
Embark: Very smooth - as quick as any other cruise we've done. We are silver members and signed up ahead of time for 12:30 arrival. We were escorted to the proper line, walked right up to counter, took care of paperwork, and were on board in less than 10 minutes. Luggage arrive a few hours later - in time for dinner. We ate before boarding at restaurant in harbor so used our time to explore the ship vs. eating. The ship is small enough to familiarize yourself quickly.
9th Floor Balcony Starboard Aft. Under Kids Club and nearly above Stardust Theater. Although we were concerned sound from the Kids club was NEVER an issue. We heard the theater one night, but wasn't issue, either.
Smaller sized balcony (27 sq feet), but enough for two the sit and read.
Having 3 in room worked - not lots of room, but sufficient. Bags under bed and in closet worked. Bathroom was clean and good sized. It is separated into shower, sink and toilet; each in own compartment. That works well, but if larger person may be tough to get into toilet area.
We enjoyed the location close to kids club, theater, back of ship sun area and outside dining.
Nicely coordinated / small tour
Did own walking tour. Loved the Butterfly Garden.
Okay tour - well coordinated and timed for departure to airport to leave at end of cruise...
Private driver. Loved the Blue Hole. Bring extra funds for tips!
Nice leisurely guided intertube trip. Stop for food/beverage/pictures, etc. It was nice - no pressure to purchase...
