This was our 3rd cruise over all and the first on RCI. Let me just say, I was impressed! I read tons of reviews after booking this cruise and I was worried that this might be a bad experience. I was wrong!
We arrived at the port at about 8:45am and waited for the doors to open until 9:30am. We checked in and were on the ship by 10:30am. This was the smoothest embarkation of the three! The first thing we did was went to the Windjammer buffet to have lunch. The food was much better than the reviews let on but nothing above average. We walked around the ship for an hour or so before finding a place to sit in the Olive or Twist bar on deck 14. This location has beautiful views and since it is somewhat out of the way there are never too many people up there.
Our rooms were open by 2pm and we checked out our first aft view balcony! All I can say is awesome! The balcony was double the depth of a typical balcony and had a great view. I will throw this in now. Our room steward was a nice enough guy but we only saw him a total of 4 times. He was available the first day, one time when we called him for laundry and a time for a bucket of ice and on tip day. Overall, not bad but really not a special experience with this guy. I never even got to know his name. Not a typical experience with most stewards because I really liked several of the stewards that worked down the hall!
Our Cabin was great! A little worn but what do you expect. She is in dry dock currently and I am sure will be looking great when she comes out! Nothing unusual about the room itself but the balcony was double the depth of a normal balcony! With tons of space to hang out, read a book or just enjoy the view! Besides the adjoining door that the adult residents continued to attempt to open, this room could not have been better!
I can't say enough! Little French Key! Go there! Beautiful, much better than the photos! Meet Dave outside gate 1 and he will take you to the bus! Worth every penny!
Difficult to rate this port since we only got off to shop. Take an excursion. There is nothing to do in port and even many of the locals say don't leave without a plan. Didn't try leaving on their suggestion but next time we will go cave tubing!
Mr. Sanchos- Best $55 I have spent in a while. All inclusive beach day with good food and drinks! Our service was great and the massages were even better!
This is Galveston! No real reason to ever come here unless you are taking a cruise. The water is nasty and smells terrible.
But as far as a port goes things are smooth and easy!
