My husband and I sailed on the Norwegian Star out of Tampa last week. We are 24 and 30 years old. We sailed with his parents and several friends of the family. This was our first cruise with Norwegian, having previously sailed with Carnival. I had read several very negative reviews about recent sailings on this ship and was concerned. However, my expectations were greatly exceeded! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always making sure that we were taken care of!
One specific example: my husband and I had booked a window room, which we were completely satisfied with until we went to bed the first night. Apparently, our room (5638) is directly below the galley and all night long we were kept awake by (we assumed) staff moving equipment, making preparations for the coming day--didn't get much sleep at any rate! We aren't complainers, but by night #2, we realized we wouldn't be getting much sleep ongoing so my husband approached guest services to ask if there was anything they could do (didn't ask to change rooms, didn't ask for an upgrade, he simply let them know what was going on). They were extremely apologetic and told us to call 00 if the noise occurred and told us that they would follow up with the staff that worked in the area that the noise was coming from. Night #3, same thing. Before we were able to call the next day, we had danishes and a note from guest services sent to our room and a follow up phone call from guest services asking if there had been any improvement. I let them know that there had been some improvement, but no resolution, but told them that it was tolerable. However, they insisted on upgrading us to a balcony stateroom free of charge! This was very unexpected, but greatly appreciated! Our second room was wonderful and noise free :)
As for the food, the complimentary dining was good, I don't know that I would say "excellent". We had a specialty dining package which allowed us to eat at Cagney's and Moderno (brazillian steakhouse), they were excellent! The drinks were great (had the unlimited beverage package--which is totally worth it), no issues with getting bar service, other than a few rude guests who would occasionally cut lines :).
First cabin was noisy, but staff made sure we were moved to another room which was lovely!
Unfortunately it rained the day that we were in Roatan. However, we had a great time despite the weather. They monkeys were high-energy and friendly! We loved interacting with them and the macaw Barney. Our tour guide, Ryan was wonderful as well!
EXCELLENT! Our guide, Pedro was incredibly knowledgable about the site and the history of it. He has been involved with Altun Ha and other Mayan sites for over 40 years. He was passionate and really made the tour enjoyable. Would definitely recommend!
This was our last stop. We decided not to take an excursion here. Sooo many shops to explore! This is a really big port and we spent the entire day exploring the shops and eating lunch at a cute little outdoor restaurant. We had been looking for cream tequila all trip long and were able to find it at a shop here! Lovely!
