Sail Date: Dec 2015
Cabin: Concierge Class 1

Well designed ship. Was easier than most big ships to find way around. Cabin comfortable and well designed. Friendly and mostly competent crew. Gym is excellent and well-sized for ship, but spa prices to use sauna and steam are very high. The solarium is a wonderful space for adults-only relaxation. Wi-fi was better than experienced on other ships but still often very slow and expensive. Computer guy was great at solving problems.

Biggest issue was lack of attention to detail. Lifeboat drill instructions in cabin were different than those ordered by cabin attendant. Instructed not to wear life jackets at drill. Never experienced in 19 previous cruises and seems like a critical omission. Ship lost credit card info despite entering it on website in advance and providing at check-in resulting in having to experience long lines on last day. Complex system (too many packages) for purchasing drinks slowed down bar service. Events in daily news not always correct (went for ballroom dancing one day in a lounge only to be told a private party was happening). Received incorrect instructions on how to exit ship for shore excursions. Received incorrect replacement card when cabin entry card failed resulting in two long waits in line. And so on.

Food and service in specialty restaurants was excellent, well above typical cruise experience, but significant extra cost. Service in main dining room was fine but food was indifferent. May explain why the specialty restaurants were frequently sold out. Casual restaurant was fine for breakfast and lunch.

Cabin Review

Concierge Class 1

Cabin C1

Comfortable bed. Adequate closet space but limited drawer space. Extra storage over bed was very helpful. Stocked refrigerator but contents very pricey. Comfortable sitting area and balcony. Small but well designed bathroom. Shower only but worked well. Cabin service generally first rate.
