Having recently returned to cruising and having experienced Oceania and Azamara in 2015 we thought that we would give river cruising a go. We spent Xmas in the Rhineland some years ago and had good memories of it so this itinerary - Treasures of the Main and Rhine appealed.
Our package included flights so we flew into Munich where we were met by a taxi van and taken on the 1 and a half hour transfer to the waiting ship. Embarkation was really simple, we were asked to wait in the lounge, where soup and sandwiches were available, until the cabins were ready, which was at around 2pm. All we needed to do was to hand our passports over and we were done. Our cases were waiting in the cabin.
The passenger capacity on this ship is 164, on our sailing there were only 106 passengers so this meant that there was plenty of room in the public areas and, in particular, we were always able to get a table for 2 in the dining room.
Very noisy at night when sailing.
Nicely appointed.
Very good tour including 1 hour canal cruise and 2 coach tours to show us almost all of the major sights of Amsterdam. 1 hour free time with drop-off near flower market.
City walk and a glass of Kolsch. Note that there is no actual brewery tour.
Evening excursion for the local speciality!
