We took a 5 day Mediterranean cruise just before Christmas on the spur of the moment as we couldn't resist the great price on offer and we were so pleased that we did - it was fabulous!

Embarkation in Marseille was fast and efficient and we were on board in no time. We loved the Neoclassica right away, small enough to find your way round very quickly but spacious and elegant.

We had an outside cabin on deck 7 (no balcony cabins) and we were delightfully surprised to find it was bigger than we expected, very well appointed and the large porthole more than sufficient for a winter cruise. Good location for the restaurants and bars etc. and kept perfectly clean and serviced by our pleasant and hard working cabin steward. Some complimentary toiletries to kick off with were a nice surprise and the Illy expresso machine at 1.50€ a pod which we didn't actually use as we only drink decaff.

Cabin Review

Outside Premium

Cabin EP

The cabin was larger than we expected and we were delighted with it. There are no balcony cabins on the Neoclassica but the portholes in the outside cabins are large and the cabins are very well appointed. Comfortable and very well serviced by our hard working and pleasant steward.

Port Reviews

Marseille

Our embarkation/disembarkation port:

We parked our car right next to the cruise terminal which is a long way from the Old Port so if you are here for a cruise stop, you'll need to take a taxi or cruise ship bus.

There is a public bus just outside the port but it looks about 15/20 minutes walk at least from the cruise terminal to the port exit, noi impossible if you feel able to manage it. We did see people walking with their bags to the bus stop.

The Old Port is picturesque and interesting. Fish was being sold from stalls along the quayside presumably straight from fishermen's catch. Possible to take boat trips out to the islands from here.

EMBARKATION/DISEMBARKATION was smooth, efficient and speedy in winter.

Savona

So easy to get on and off your ship here. Nice modern small terminal. Very short walk and you are right in town having passed the small but friendly tourist office, just take the map as there isn't much else but if you have specific questions, they will help.

If you are here on a Sunday, there is a market taking place but we preferred our second visit on a week day when all the lovely little shops and cafes were open. Walk up to the end of the main street and you'll come upon an open square with a pleasant garden.

About 10 minutes brisk walk to the right of here you'll come upon the Ipercoop (hope that is right) shopping mall which is great if you want to shop! Huge hyper market for all those lovely Italian goodies you may wish to take home but don't forget you still have to carry them so shop light! Nice helpful staff here, too.

Not to be missed. Do your research and decide what is important to you.
