The Golden Princess might have been grand lady in her time, but...her time is up!!!
The lack of communication with staff on boarding in Melbourne caused a queue of almost 1 kilometre long, in hot sunny conditions, until someone realized that hey, you could just walk straight onto the pier, pandemonium when this was realized, and a staff member finally came out to direct the queue.
We are seasoned cruisers and found the ship really in need of major renovations. Rust was clearly seem all over the ship, in rather large areas as well as small. The lounge and gathering areas are far too small for the number of guests. In fact every time there was a function in the piazza, the crowds were so huge that there were lines up and down the staircase, very unsafe to say the least.
We had a mini suite that the bathroom tiles were just painted over to cover scratches and dirt. Appalling indeed. The worst bathroom ever, sink and bath chipped and very grotty. The bed had a huge dip in the middle. The "leather sofa" was so old and worn that you felt the frame every time you sat on it. The TV's even though a great idea having two, the remotes don't work so you need to get up and down anyway. Cabin steward was terrific.
