We had 2 balcony mini suites on deck 10. The first night I heard a lot of noise from the hallways, but after that it was quiet at night. The rooms were not as soundproof as the ones on other ships that we’ve been on.
There was plenty of storage space, even for our 3 adult kids in one room. We all liked the larger bathroom and shower. I found the mattress to be hard. I liked the high tech do not disturb and clean room lights over the door.
I had read comments that made me nervous about the motion on the Getaway prior to our cruise. However, we felt LESS motion on this ship than on any other ship. We had great weather and calm seas. There was none of the rocking back and forth or the slapping up and down motion that we’ve had on other ships.
We were very happy with our cabins. The bed is by the window in 10234 and by the closet in 10232.
Leaving from Miami is so easy. We parked directly across from the cruise terminal.
Had a fantastic day at Great Stirrup Cay. The island was easily walkable, although rocky in places. I enjoyed exploring for the first half hour or so after we arrived. We were on one of the earlier tenders and easily found some shade for half of our family next to sun for the other half. We enjoyed spending the day on the main beach, even though it got pretty crowded. Three of us rented stand up paddle boards. We also rented float mats :)
We used Resort for a Day and went to the Jewel Dunn's River Beach Resort. I highly recommend this for someone who wants a resort day. It was very, very windy, but other than that it was a perfect way to spend the day. We had loungers on the beach, used float mats in the 2 large pools, had lots to drink and eat, and just had an overall great day. Resort for a Day handled the transportation perfectly.
We took a taxi to Royal Palms. It was crowded, but otherwise excellent. Loved our day there.
Reserved Nachi Cocum months in advance. Took a taxi there and had a great day!
