Before our trip I searched for information about Christmas on the ship. I could find some sketchy details, but no good hard info...so, I have decided to share that information! You can find information about everything else, but not as much about how the holidays are celebrated.

First, the tree was beautiful, in the promenade, and there was a tree lighting ceremony the first night on the ship.

There were holiday swags and poinsettas were lovely and everywhere. We really enjoyed the décor for the holidays. There was a staff made ginger bread village in the windjammer(my kids could have made that one). Nice, but not amazing!

There was a Christmas addition to the menu both Christmas eve and Christmas day, but, no real Christmas cookies....there were store bought, yucky ones...molded sugar cookies, with colored sugar on them...like you find on Christmas eve at WalMart when you forgot to make cookies for Santa. I was disappointed that there were no real Christmas cookies. :(

The dreamworks characters had winter costumes(shrek had a scarf ...etc..) which was fun.

There was Christmas caroling on Christmas eve at 10:30 pm in the promenade. Awfully late, but still nice. Santa did come Christmas morning, and had a gift for all children 0-17 on the ship. Teens were given RCI selfie sticks, and my 8 year old sunglasses. Nice gesture, but really...with the DreamWorks tie in, I would have thought mini stuffed characters, not sunglasses...but, oh well, it was still a gift. My teens were thrilled though. While waiting an hour to see Santa, the waiters were handing out Egg Nogg, both alcoholic and non alcoholic. Nice touch.

The kids programs had 3 family events Christmas themed, cookie decoration party, making tree ornaments and one other that we didn't go to. All three were well done!

Overall, it was a great trip, but if you are looking for over the top Christmas, this is not a trip you want to do. In fact, you could totally avoid Christmas if you wanted too! We had a great trip, and Freedom and the staff is great but I don't think this is the Christmas trip we thought it(and paid for it) to be. With such a price premium for Christmas week, I expect a little more Christmas!
