This was the 8th Cruise for a Case sponsored by the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. I have only been present for 3 of these cruises and all have been with RCCL. We have been treated fabulously since I have joined the group. We flew into Fort Lauderdale on Southwest 5 days before embarkation. Stayed at our time share in Miami. A beautiful Marriott property. Rented our car from Thrifty, great service and good car. Enjoyed day trips to Key West and Sanibel Island. Got my share of shells. Would love to go back. Freedom is the largest ship to date and believe me I was happy to walk every inch of her. She is truly a city within a city. Beauty, serenity, and relaxation await all who sail her. We had no problems boarding. It was quick and easy. The Windjammer Cafe was open and ready to serve us. Our stateroom was ready on time and our luggage arrived about a half hour after we left port. Quick and speedy. What a relief. Our balcony stateroom was the perfect place to be after leaving Miami. Meals aboard are so good and one can easily overdo but they do try to make servings more reasonable so you really have to work hard to over eat too much. The wait staff are always very courteous and very helpful especially for those needing a helping hand at the buffet's. Our dining room waiter Andre and his assistant Alphonso were wonderful and so pleasant to have serve us. If it is activity you seek it abounds aboard this ship. We especially loved the Ice Show and the stellar performance they gave. The casino is always the place of choice for my husband, and I love all the water activities. The flow rider was a ball to watch, my husband enjoyed his time riding the waves. The shows are phenomenal and the staff are superb. We had some really rough water under us though. 20-40 foot waves on the first 2 days at sea and force 10 winds battered us on deck. We still stood at the railing and watched the sunsets and enjoyed the pools and hot tubs especially the two cantilevered tubs in the Solarium. Only thing that could make them better is if the bottoms were see through. We were over an hour late into our first port of San Juan. Unfortunately because of that all excursions were cancelled. Sure wanted to see Bacardi again and take my hubby to El Morro Fort. Gives us something to go back for. The shopping was great and probably spent too much on jewels but he forced me to. hahaha! The weather gratefully improved overnight and it was bright and sunny and warm in St. Thomas. We went helmet diving on water scooters. The boat ride out to the bay was great. Lots of waves and soaked before we put a toe into the water. Not one moment of worry snorkeling, getting into the helmut and onto the scooters. Even for my hubby who doesn't swim. The staff on the boat were fabulous. They took pictures with our own camera and were just a kick to be around. We have some wonderful memories and some funny pics of us riding under the waves. We completed our day with the Skyride to Paradise. How beautiful the view was, especially if you walk to the very top. We had a light lunch and a nice cold frozen Bailey's Bushwacker drink. They are to die for. But watch how many you drink. Would love the recipe for that. Next day found us in St. Maarten. Even more beautiful than St. Thomas. We were delayed an hour leaving on our excursion and we were forced to cancel the second excursion we had planned as time would not allow. We went on the Lord Sheffield Tall ship trip. The sail boat was amazing. We left port. Lifted the sail and flew to the mooring site for the boat. We were served drinks, appetizers, barbecue, and desert. I was the first one off to snorkel. The water was a bit murky because of the previous bad weather but the owner of the boat had a pontoon float in the water that you could snorkel to and there were a bunch of fish hanging out under it. Got to take some pics with the camera. Even saw Barracuda's floating in the water. Again the crew on the sail boat were wonderful. Kept you sure footed if you needed help and made it a most enjoyable excursion. Cab ride back to the ship was $3.00 per person but it was worth it. Lots of shopping at all ports. Got lots of great memories. To sum it all up. We loved Freedom and RCCL. The week was too short, would love to have done a back to back on her. The Cruise line has bent over backward for those of us with Multiple Sclerosis, WE have to thank them for keeping the gangways clear by removing our scooters and wheelchairs every evening and delivering them to us in the am as requested. The staff on this ship has been well educated to our needs and that is a very special thing. Each and everyone of the staff needs to be commended. Thank You RCCL for the wonderful experience.

Cabin Review

Our stateroom was just perfect for us. Very comfortable for 2 people. Unless you spend alot of time in the stateroom it shouldn't be a problem. The balcony was great for morning breakfast and night time star gazing. Would be better if the other passengers turned their balcony lights off at night, but still didn't spoil it for us. The flat screen tv was just the right size. Spent time watching the promenade last nights on the screen. Plenty of closet space for us. Bathroom small but doable. The beds pushed together was a very comfortable size for us and the covering over the mattress was luxurious at best. Would love to know what that was made out of. Would love it here at home. I always bring ear plugs because I am a light sleeper so the noise is a non issue for me. We were located in the center of the ship on deck 7. Equal distance to the elevators. Very good choice.
