Our last cruise on RC was in Sept 2014 (Canada/New England) and we promised that was going to be the last (we just became Diamond one cruise before). Poor food quality and worse service was a clear trend after more than 10 years travelling with them. This xmas my inlaws insisted on cruising the Med ... and the only choice was NCL's Epic... But we really were surprised, first because of the service, the different options for dining and the entertainment. We never had to be in a queue and be free of a schedule was a big plus, after all we were on vacation and we have enough schedules at work.

The ship is maybe the ugliest on the outside but comfortable and nice on the inside. The cabin (w balcony) was big compared to standards with plenty of storage room, the bed was very good but the illumination was awful. We had to chance to have either lunch or dinner at all complimentary restaurants and we found them excellent overalll. Entertainment was awesome and we manage to enter all shiws even though in most cases we had mo reservations. The disembarkation was slow. We ended up leaving at 10:00 when we were supposed to do it at 09:15. Taxi service in the port of Barcelona was a mess as usual.

Definetely we'll try NCL again, maybe to the Canary islands or eastern Med.

Plenty of space , but poor illumination. Great bed!

Port Reviews

Barcelona

Barcelona is great big city with plenty of things to do for all ages

Rome (Civitavecchia)

Alessandro took us in a luxury van to all landmarks and also to other great but not so touristic places

Naples

We hired a cab to go to the Catacombs and the National Museum. Later we walked the Via Toledo and had the chance to taste local pastries
