It's wonderful to start in San Juan and board late! Friendly welcome aboard and we got a stateroom with a large window to fit 2 adults and a teen. Roomy. Ship was clean and staff was fantastic. Lots of activities places to sit on the deck as well as lots of spaces to escape to when it rained. There were kids activities, but didn't seem as organized to get the teens together.
Food was average; better in the dining room than in the Windjammer, but just average for the most part-a little disappointing. Desserts were flavorless but we always enjoyed the soft serve machine. Great variety of food, but again, average. Only 2 choices for the included meals and no late night buffet like there used to be in the past, we didn't go to the pay as you eat restaurants, in which there were 3. Starbucks was also not included. We paid 18% gratuity for anything we bought on the ship and paid $13pp/per day for gratuities in our room and dining area. The staff really works hard and deserves the money, but again, more money out of pocket every time we turn around. They always had drink specials, so we stuck with that.
There's a fridge in the room, and food and drinks. You can bring your own stuff and store it there if you want a late night snack in your room or if you bring your own drinks. You can purchase and bring 2 bottles of wine or champagne when you check in at the port.
Clean, roomy and large enough for 3 people. Housekeeping staff was helpful, knew our names and made creative towel animals.
Aruba is beautiful. Go to the beach.
Took the bus and went to a beach by the airport. Great locals experience.
Curaçao is beautiful and people are friendly. Try the food.
Cabs are expensive but they give you prices ahead of time. Eat the local food and get a jeep to hike in the rainforest.
