As a teacher, I am tied into having holidays during school vacations. I thought this one would be fine as it was the week before NSW holidays officially started....I was wrong!

The cruise prior to ours had issues with Norovirus and a freak wind that caused a bit of havoc, so our boarding was delayed. We eventually boarded at around 4:30pm after an hour in the terminal. We were scheduled to board at 1:00pm.

We headed straight to our cabin #7605 which had a promenade view. Normally we choose balcony view, but this was a very good deal, under $1000 each for an 8 night South Pacific cruise. The cabin was made up with single beds, so I asked the cabin steward to convert to a king as requested for the next day. He did it while we were at dinner that night. Our steward Ordern was wonderful, very unobtrusive, but did everything we asked as soon as humanly possible, not that we ask a lot...a couple of wine glasses, the bed change, to have the tv fixed.

Cabin Review

Promenade Stateroom

Cabin PR

The cabin was midship on deck 7. It was fairly close to the elevator and the games room. We were told it would be noisy from the promenade below, but it wasn't. It was extremely noisy from our neighbours as it was an adjoining cabin with a connecting door. Our neighbours yelled constantly and at 4am one morning I had to get up and knock on their door to get them to be quiet. I guess the noise passes more easily through the door cracks than through the wall, as we didn't hear a peep from the guests on the other side of us. I would avoid the adjoining cabins unless you are travelling together.

The cabin was much smaller than those we have been on previously. We had a Central Park View on Oasis of the Seas, and it was much larger. We normally book balconies, but this was a good deal. The cabin had a window seat and a half sofa, which made good use of the area near the window. There was no coffee table, although there was room for one. There was plenty of cupboard space and the suitcases fit under the bed. The powerpoints were on the opposite wall to the bed, so to use my Cpap machine I had to use an extension cord, which was provided by RCI after I submitted a request form. The sockets are European and USA, so bring an adaptor. There was very little space between the foot of the bed and the wall as the room was quite narrow. The bed was large and comfortable. The cabin had blockout curtains, so we weren't bothered by the lights being on all night. The view from this cabin was of the guest services desk, so not a good choice for seeing the shows that are held on the promenade deck. If you want to see them, you need to book a cabin down towards the other elevator. This side was good for getting to the dining venues - straight up for Windjammer, down for MDR. All in all, I was happy with the cabin, except for the noise through the connecting door, so I would never book it again.
