My family and I were very much looking forward to this Caribbean cruise. We had been to Mexico and Alaska before and had very positive experiences. We were not prepared for what we experienced on the Spirit, however.
This is the oldest ship in the NCL fleet, and, despite a retrofit in 2014, I think the bathrooms got missed. Our cabin bathroom was not as bad-looking as some of the photos we had seen on YouTube or TripAdvisor, but it did have a bathroom towel-like 'stink' emanating from some plastic on the toilet--that never quite went away.
Really not a good idea to rearrange any furniture, too, as you can see quite a few layers of dust on the carpet this way.
Interesting exploring a different locale. The public bus was all we needed to get around. To Hell and back (literally). Turtle Farm was lots of fun, too.
We just paid a taxi driver to circle around the city. Word of advice: don't just accept the first offer you get--NEGOTIATE down your taxi fare. Come up with an excuse for why you can't pay what they're offering. You can probably get $20 or $15 shaved off for your group.
Enjoyed the local grocery store more than the luxury / jewelry shopping district they took us to.
Excellent food (the only time on our trip) and snorkeling. They close the area down a little too early I have to say, though....
