We returned last night from our cruise on the Brilliance.
1 - Don't bother with My Time dining. I called on the first night for a reservation and was told the only time open was 8:15. On day 2 I called and made reservations for the rest of the trip - my options were 5:30 or 8:00. If I have to make all my reservations in advance, I might as well just take one of the regular seatings. When we got to the dining room with our reservation, it was complete chaos. No one was communicating anything, there was no differentiating those with and without reservations. When I commented about the lack of communication and organization, I was told "Well, we need to seat 600 people". You would think that if you have to seat 600 people, you would do something to organize them. By night 4, it started to get very contentious. It wasn't until people started displaying their frustration (about 20 minutes after we got in line, and 5-10 minutes after our reservation time) that dining room staff stepped in and tried to create some semblance of order.
2 - Don't count on using ship's wifi. It generally took me about 20 tries to connect, and then it would drop as soon as I moved on the ship. When I asked guest services, they told me their network wasn't compatible with the latest iOS upgrade so iPhones and iPads didn't work.
If you have the opportunity to go with Gil and his team from Explora Caribe - GO! Their knowledge of the sea life and ability to manage the currents while we were in the water are outstanding.
We walked around on our own, saw the lighthouse, Hemingway's house, the Little White House, and southernmost point. Duval Street is all bars and tourist traps.
Tampa was only an arrival and departure point. But I will say that the folks at the Westshore Courtyard were wonderful, as were their transfer people (Ship or Shore).
