This was an awesome cruise from start to finish. Firstly embarkation was a breeze and it was only ten minutes from arrival at the pier to getting into our stateroom - a record. Travel to the port using Supershutle was seamless. Princess had pulled all the stops out on this voyage as it was the 50th anniversary of the first Princess cruise and this was following more or less the same itiniary. They were also following the Love Boat theme and had most of the cast on board as well as Donny Most from Happy Days and several other Las Vegas acts. As we had been on the Pacific Princess before we knew what to expect with regard to our cabin which while compact had plenty of storage. It was kept tidy by our wonderful steward Themis. We had been very lucky as we had been visited by the upgrade fairy. We had not been able to get a balcony at the booking stage as this cruise was sold out within weeks of going on sale so only had a guaranteed outside. We were amazed to get an upgrade notice a week before sailing as we are usually not lucky. The dining on this trip tried to follow the menus on the original cruise and one of the evening meals was a recreation of the first gala dinner. We were given souvenir menus to keep. We were also given a gift to recognise the occasion. The food on this trip was the best we have ever had on Princess with three gala dinners and something for everyone's taste. Breakfast was a bit repetitious but with a great selection. Lunch in the buffet was always good with a theme every day. Our waiters Ben and Edmund were wonderful always anticipating our needs. Entertainment on the whole followed the Love Boat theme with q and a sessions with several of the cast as well as a performance by Jill Whelan. The production shows were also very good and the singers and dancers seem to blend very well. All in all the entertainment was better than usual on a small ship. We really enjoyed this cruise - it was perhaps one of the best we have been on.

Cabin Review

Balcony
Cabin BE 6029
The cabin was compact as expected but storage was good and the balcony sufficient for our needs. The ship had obviously been spruced up since our last trip in 2014 as there was no rust visible on the paintwork and it looked much better.

Our steward Themis kept our cabin beautiful no matter what time of day we emerged.
