I would like to start off by stating that I am an experienced cruiser and have been cruising for 40 years. I don't remember how many cruises I have taken as I stopped counting a long time ago. I have taken cruises from 7 days to 63 days in length.

I cruised on the Oasis two years ago and thought is was ok and friends suggested that we take the Allure as they thought it was a better ship. The ship is our destination and on these short Caribbean cruises we usually don't get off in port and don't have high expectations while on the cruise. We like to read a book and watch the ocean.

Embarkation/debarkation is absolutely outstanding.

Cabin Review

Grand Suite with Balcony

Cabin GS

The size of the Grand Suite was nice, about the size of two cabins. There was plenty of closet space. However, it was not very clean or kept clean. Black scuff marks on the marble tile, layers of dust on the glass shelving, black soot on the floor under the entry door hinges, mold on the grout around the tub, the bracket holding the toilet brush was filthy, and worst of all was the balcony. The furniture on the balcony is old with most of the paint corroded off. The glass under the railing was so caked with salt that when the sun shined on it I couldn't see the ocean. The balcony was only partially cleaned one time during a designated balcony cleaning day. We came back from breakfast and the balcony furniture and deck was soaking wet apparently from someone cleaning a balcony above us. A little while later our steward came in and wiped the furniture and railing down and partially mopped the deck. After lunch we came back and found the balcony completely soaked again from above. Called the head of housekeeping and a supervisor and helper came and wiped down and pushed the water around with a wet mop. He then came in to talk to us and put the water logged mop on the carpet. I had to ask him not to do that so he reluctantly put it on the balcony until he finished talking. The next day the balcony deck was wet again and I took a mop from one of the hall restroom cleaners and mopped it myself. As I was putting the mop back our steward saw me with the mop and said he could have done that however, he never did. He is an extremely lazy guy who was usually the last one up in the morning to clean and the first to leave. I was not going to tell this guy how to clean a cabin.
