Flew Newcastle/Paris/Venice with Air France - flights on time but our worry about luggage transfer was a needless concern - met by RC staff and taken to coach. In no time we were on the ship & in our cabin. We had some concerns about the Splendour after reading so many bad critiques - however, it pays not to take too much notice as we found the ship to be spotlessly clean from top to bottom with a very attentive staff. The ship is looking rather jaded but feel sad that it is leaving RC fleet. The pianist entertainer in the Schooner Bar was very popular as was the entertainment in the R Bar. Enjoyed some of the Theatre Shows. As we are Diamond Plus we spent quite some time in the Concierge Lounge which, as expected, was most enjoyable where we were always made welcome by the Concierge who was truly wonderful in every way. Our J.S was immaculate thanks to our Steward Made who is one of the best. Our transit through the Suez Canal was quite exciting - no pirates fortunately but we witnessed a sandstorm which caused a slight delay as the Port of Suez was closed & we had to wait 2 hours for more staff to board from the Port. We enjoyed the food in the Windjammer - always a good selection with excellent staff - nothing was too much trouble for them. Ate a few times in Chops - fabulous! The last day we spent sightseeing in Dubai on the Hop on Hop off bus which is highly recommended as is the Dubai Mall which certainly excels, extravagant shopping is available and there is a superb Aquarium which is a must. Left the ship at 5.00 a.m. then taken to Dubai Airport which has to be seen to be believed, for our Emirates flight back to Newcastle. The crew on Emirates were most attentive and the food served was well above average. Landed in Newcastle five minutes early after a wonderful 16 days in beautiful warm weather, never too hot nor too cold.

Venice to Dubai.
