We have been on many cruises, two previous on NCL which were very good. Never have we felt compelled to write a review before.
Please, if you have never cruised before, do not make this one your first, for you will have poisoned, in your mind, what is normally a grand experience. Take my advice and make your first cruise on the highest quality line that you can afford; you will then be better prepared to understand the shortcomings of this ship if you should be unfortunate enough to take it later. For the sake of expediency, I shall list its attributes and shortcomings in point form. FYI, our cabin was midships deck 8 with a balcony.
Shortcomings:
very small
clean
noisy
frequent stink of sewer gas
poor TV channels
no speaker for announcements
interesting even with sunset occluded by cloud
worth the money
near death experience but worth the effort for the views from the top
historically significant
an American tragedy, should be seen by all
nothing there worth seeing
Doors off over Kilauea, very expensive but good
rented a car and toured the island, very picturesque
bad experience with ship while trying to telephone car rental agency, eventually telephoned from shore - inexcusable!
