We took the Paris and the Heart of Normandy cruise on October 26. Our real disappointment was the location of the dock. It was several miles outside of Paris which made it hard to visit the City whenever we wanted. That being said, the cruise, the staff, the food, and the scenery was wonderful. One of the best stops was the home of Monet and viewing his beautiful garden. Even though it was the end of the season (winter was fast approaching), we could still see the beauty in the garden. From every angle there was a new scene to paint or photograph. No wonder Monet spent so much time there. The next favorite thing was the shopping trip to a local market with the Chef. It was most interesting and informative. Of course, the main destination and main attraction was the Cemetery and Beaches of Normandy. We toured Omaha beach and the American Cemetery, where we had a private tribute to the brave men who gave so much there 70 years ago. This was one of the most moving and emotional parts of the trip. Visiting the almost 10,000 graves of American Soldiers who died there and seeing the wall listing the thousands of names of those who could not be located. We were disappointed only in that our visit was too short. We wish Viking would allow 2 days to see all of this.

Veranda Stateroom
Cabin B
Cabin was small but very adequate and beautifully appointed. How much are you in your room anyway?
