This was our first cruise on Carnival. We were skeptical because of all the negative comments we heard. Overall, it was a good cruise. We took advantage of the FlyAweigh program because the airfare was half of what we could have gotten on our own. We got very good connections. We also had Carnival transfers from the airport (and for our return). That saved a lot of headaches.

Embarkation in Long Beach went well. We had Faster To The Fun, so we were able to bypass the check-in line. The cabin was nice, and our steward, Xavier, was friendly and attentive.

The food was hit and miss. Some dishes were excellent, some were not so good. The steaks tended to be gristly, and some dishes were bland. Our waiters, Somchai, Alexandru and Rafael, were the best. I enjoyed the Sea Day Brunch, but they didn't have it every day on the way back to Long Beach. The Lido was okay, but was so congested during lunch time it was hard to walk through it. Because of the layout, it took me a while to figure out where everything was. The pizza was very good.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin 8D

Our balcony was clean and well attended. There was plenty of storage. I loved seeing which towel animal we would get next.

Port Reviews

Kona (Kailua Bay)

It was a good way to see Kona.

Hilo

It was great for learning about volcanos. Walking through the lava tube was cool.
