I booked this cruise for our 40th wedding aniversary because people had said how good it was what a mistake. Firstly our flight was good, the check in good, then we got to our cabin bear in mind we paid £6400 for the grand suite, it was a suite but grand it wasn`t my wife on arrival undid the bath robes to find two large white rags i have thrown better in the dustbin so i went to reception to complain who looked at me with the look of what are you moaning about but agreed to change them which our cabin steward did who i add we never saw again for the whole cruise.
Then we booked a trip to Athens cost £49 each for this you get a coach through Athens (a filthy place full of graffiti) then to the olympic arena which you cannot enter only a photo and on to the acropolis for 50 minutes only 40 minutes too long to look at scaffolding, jib cranes and fork lift trucks. Most of the places we visited were very nice the best being Venice but don`t get ripped off with Thompson trips as i asked about our options as we wanted to do it ourself we were told we could take the tender from the ship at a cost of £28 each or go of this dock down the road onto another dock to fid a water taxi to st mark`s square when in fact you step off the ship walk about a 100 yards onto a water taxi at a charge of 15 euros retun each.
The entertainment on board was to be fair very good but my biggest problem was the choice of food or lack of it, They have two very nice restaurants the problem both of them had the same menu every night with only about 4/5 choices of mains so if you don`t like the menu in one no good looking in the other and as i like too dress up for my meals i don`t expect to sit sit in the roadside cafe on top deck. With regard to the dresscode in the restaurants one guy walked in looked like he just come off the garage floor and another one with jeans and tee shirt with a caravan on.
