I love Cruise Critic and read every possible review that I can before booking a cruise and shore excursions. I will try to stick to the highlights and put in my two cents worth.

We took a redeye Jetblue flight from Boston and arrived in San Juan at 5:00 am on embarcation morning. Took a cab to Hotel Miramar and they held out luggage so we could have breakfast at the Las Pinos rest. across the street. Great breakfast for two for less than $10 and they relaxed on the hotels rooftop lounge . We knew from other reviews that it was unsafe and almost impossible to walk the short distance to the Panamerican pier so at 10:30 am we took another cab to the pier which means we spend $45.00 on cabs this morning. The Panamerican pier access road is so poorly designed and constructed there is no way around this. We dropped off some of our luggage and stood near the front of the line. I wanted to be early since the Celebrity website has been such a joke that we did not have our express passes and because there were so many of us without express passes security has passenger lists to look us all up before letting us into the building. Door opened at 11:00am and by 11.30 we were on the ship and went up to deck 10 and walked through the pool area and had some lunch in the buffet. Rooms were ready at 1:15 pm .

After much research and thought we picked outside stateroom 7002. It is very close to the bow and is actually closer to the bow that the bridge itself. It is very quiet almost at the end of the hallway and at 250 square feet is much more spacious than a standard outside of balcony cabin. Our cabin was in excellent condition and our cabin stewards were fantastic. I wanted an ice bucket and my shore excursion cooler filled twice a day and they never missed doing that even once and our cabin was serviced twice daily. The biggest downside to these front extra large room is the distance to back of the ship to the main dining room and to leave for shore tours. We spent three days in 30-35 mph winds and seas 4-8 feet and you really feel some motion up front. It did not bother us or keep us from sleeping.

Cabin Review

Ocean View 4

Cabin 04

Cabin 7002 is much larger than a standard outside or balcony cabin. It was 25 feet by 9-10 feet and you have a very large front facing window. It has two beds and a sofa bed and a makeup table and another table and two chairs under the window. There is motion this far up front but is was ok for us. Be advised the price for having such a secluded and quiet room is the distance that must be traveled to get elsewhere on the ship. We did not mind the walking as it was good exercise but if you have mobility issues then pick something amidships.

Port Reviews

San Juan

The Panamerican cruise port is really bad. The main cruise port is in Old San Juan right where all of the action is. You cannot safely walk anywhere near it, you must take a cab to do anything.

Barbados

Nice old plantation house surrounded by sugarcane fields.

St. Thomas

Standard two hour island tour with many picture taking stops and a shopping and drinking stop at the Mountain Top. Then on to Coki beach for two hours and they pick you up and bring you back to the ship or to downtown for shopping. Coki beach was warmer and clear as compared to Megans beach last year.
