I was always curious about taking a cruise with my family but just never did it. I had a relative that went on a DCL cruise and her rave reviews finally convinced us. We cruised with my family of 4 and then we convinced other friends and family to come as well. Our total group size was 12 people.

I am a person that will read reviews until I am blue in the face to make sure that I know as much as possible about what I am spending tons of money on. Although there were other cruise lines that we considered, we finally settled on DCL because of all the great reviews and our relative's first hand account. Also, I grew up near Disneyland and have been there countless times. So, with this being our first cruise, I don't have anything to compare it to except traditional vacations.

We chose to cruise out of Galveston for one reason only I was going to be in town to visit family for Thanksgiving and this cruise left the day after. So, easy choice since I didn't have to pay for "extra" airline tickets for my family of 4.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah

Cabin 05B

Cabin: Surprisingly roomy compared to what I was expecting on a cruise ship. I really liked the attention to detail and the small touches. We had veranda stateroom 6458 on the Wonder and loved it. Nothing in the room felt cheap or worn out (well, the alarm clock was showing wear but oh well). We really loved the fact that our room was cleaned or straightened up twice a day. The normal mid day cleaning and then the nightly turn down service where they set up the bunk for the kids and left us an amusing "towel animal". Oh...and bring magnets to decorate your door. I thought it was "cheesy" but found that I really liked looking at all the decorated doors! I will be dressing it up next year for sure!

Port Reviews

Galveston

Eh...it is Galveston. Industrial port. We got on the ship and off the ship here.

Key West

Fun resort town. Just wandered around and ate at the Hard Rock Cafe.

Nassau

Didn't get to do the Aquarium because the Atlantis people screwed up the day. Disney made it right and refunded half.

Nassau

The actual experience with the dolphins was amazing. The rest of the day was messed up.

Castaway Cay

Had fun but didn't feel like it was long enough. Glad I did it but wouldn't pay to do it a second time.
