The Vision of the Seas had been to Europe and this was the second cruise departing the US since her return. We were traveling as Diamond Members, so this was not our first trip to the rodeo with RCI and we have a number of cruises with which to compare this trip.

As stated in the title, we had fun on this cruise. Overall, we enjoyed our trip and had a good time. However, it seems that the WOW that RCI promises on its cruises was missing. RCI is slowly whittling away the "perks" that it has offered to its loyalty club members in the past.

We arrived for embarkation at Cruise Terminal 2. After dropping my passengers and luggage at curbside [one handicapped member], I parked in the Port's parking garage [a little pricey, but it has its benefits later]. We waited in line for less than 15 minutes and the boarding began. The trip through security was quick. We went straight to the Diamond check in line and waited less than 5 minutes before we were checked in, photographed and sent on our way to the ship.

Junior Suite

Cabin JS

At 1 pm, our staterooms were made available. We were in a junior suite [8022]. It was clean, comfortable, and the attendant, Alex, promptly took care of the few requests we had for extra pillows and raising the head of my side of the bed. The balcony was clean, but the rail was in need of being re-sanded and re-varnished. This is a maintenance issue. There was one occasion where the toilets for our section ceased to work. Maintenance got to work on it quickly and had it repaired within an hour.

Notice for those who are considering this room and who like to turn in to sleep early. You are right below the pool deck and you can hear noise coming from above through the deck [overhead]. We did not have any trouble with noise from outside the room when we would return to our room at night [11:30 pm - 1:00 am].

Of note, there was a high pitched random whining noise that seemed to emanate from the rooms speaker. I located it by the balcony door as potentially coming from one of the fluorescent light ballasts that may have been feeding back though the room speaker. Maintenance came in and "adjusted the speaker. This stopped the noise through the speaker, but it periodically presented itself through the light. We complained about it again, and maintenance came beck and it appeared to be resolved, or we just quit paying attention to it. It was a carry over punch list item according to ship's personnel. Other than this, our room was fine.
