I actually had a wonderful cruise experience -so please don't take the title of the review in a derogatory manner. This was my seventh Royal Caribbean cruise, but the first without a healthy diverse age range for travelers. The mean age on this cruise was late fifties. I actually found this cruise to be much more peaceful and friendlier than other cruises I've been on (no young twenties drunkards, no parents of young children screaming at the staff because their own frustrations built up too much ... am I judging too much here? Ok, I'll stop). I travelled alone and multiple other couples tried to adopt me -sweet. Unnecessary, but sweet.

Dining -loved the food (as always). This cruise was over Thanksgiving and they actually had a Thanksgiving menu for us Americans in the dining room -AND- had leftover turkey, cranberry sauce, etc. in the Windjammer the next day which I loved. However, I did MyTime Dining every night and had trouble getting a reservation (did they overbook the MyTime? was it because so many more customers were older/prefer formal dining? not sure ...) and then only sat at the same table 2 times (out of 9 nights!) I have done MyTime on 7 other Royal Carribean cruises and always got the same table/servers before, so I just took that for granted. I missed having that connection.

Also, they were understaffed at the greeting stand -one person who would leave for up to 5 minutes to seat people themselves/re-set tables and then return. Eh. Windjammer service was poor and the buffet access was set up at the entrance with narrow walk-ways and different foods on either side so you had to pick one or you'd have to circle around twice to access all the food. Also difficult to move around all the wheelchairs and walkers with the space. Made me grateful for my own mobility-I'm not sure how some of them did it.

Cabin Review

Large Interior Stateroom

Cabin K

Cabin was not bad for an interior room. The desk was loaded up with snack bar items (snacks and drinks that would normally be in the mini-fridge & are extra cost) -they took up a lot of space. No mini-fridge. The closet was bigger than I remember, and the lifejackets were under the bed instead of the closet so there was tons of room in the closet. They had three types of hangers in the closet which was also nice -no shelf storage there but built in drawers on both sides of the desk as there was no mini-fridge. The bathroom had been upgraded with the pretty green tiles but still has a shower curtain, and even with the shower curtain shut the floor will get wet. Had a mini love-seat (two cushion, but only one end had an armrest -the other end had no armrest and was shorter with a curve to the cushion). The coffee table for the love-seat was more contemporary (light and dark wood, very pretty I thought) than that old glass coffee tables this class of ship normally has but about a quarter the size. Contemporary brightly colored art piece on the wall. Mirrored section on the far wall forming a cross just like other ships in this class. Was kept very clean. Only saw my attendant once (which is unusual for me-I guess we were just on different schedules!) I only had 3 towel animals for the entire 9 day cruise which was sad, but they were all well-made.
