Embarkation: It was only a 10 minute cab ride from the airport to the cruise terminal. Once there the embarkation process proceeded quickly and we were on board the ship within an hour or so. The ship is definitely older however we didn't encounter any major problems anywhere. There was rust on the verandah and the carpet showed some wear but nothing we couldn't live with. There were new furnishings on the verandah which was a pleasant surprise from the previous fake rattan furniture. We ate breakfast each day in the cabin and I will have to say that the room service is outstanding. If you ordered breakfast for between 6.30 and 7, it would show up at 6.30. It was always cooked to order (specified crispy bacon..got crispy. Always requested a large pot of coffee and that's what I got) and arrived not really hot but definitely warm. Lunch was in the LIDO most days and was ok. The Italian was my favorite however the pizza was terrible. The salads were ok also. I don't understand why they put iced tea in those very small glasses. It seems I was constantly jumping up to refill my tea glass. Don't they have any larger glasses????? Tried the burgers one day and they were very good with the fries.

Food in the main dining room was mostly good. Several nights I had difficulty finding something that I cared to order so I would order the steak. Big mistake. The steaks came out so tough that one of my tablemates suggested that I needed a sharper knife. The fish was very good every time I tried it which was every time they had one except the night of trout (which I don't like) and the char as I had tried it on an earlier cruise and didn't care for it. The shops on the ship have the same old stuff as on every cruise so didn't bother going except the one time to see what was there. One funny thing, when we were in Panama they had a sale of panamanian items on the pool deck and my sister bought several molas there. I didn't but when we docked in Panama and went ashore, I found molas there that were $10 dollars cheaper than the ones on the ship. Was my sister mad!!!!!

The service in the dining room was outstanding and our waiter was super. He always had a smile on his face and once he found out that I wanted coffee with my meal, my coffee cup would arrive as soon as I sat down. He was a real sweetheart and worked so hard to please everyone. Ate at the Pinnacle one time and had the halibut which was excellent. Ate at Canaletto one night and was the worst experience I have had. The staff was rude and would totally ignore us. We waited 30 minutes for a glass of tea, finally gave up and told them I wanted coffee. Then the tea arrived? Could not get the server to come to our table and the food was just ok. Won't go back there again for sure.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean-View Verandah Stateroom

Cabin VE

Our cabin was 7135 on the starboard side of the ship and aft. I like the port side better and wished we had booked a cabin on that side. It seemed as if our verandah was in the sun most of the day no matter where we were going. The cabin was standard, not large but lots of storage. The furniture (couch and chair) could stand an update but was adequate. The first night our air conditioning did not work so it was very warm. We called guest services and a very nice repairman showed up on the afternoon of the 10th and promised to get it fixed while we went to lunch. His word was good and we returned to a cool cabin and had no further problems with the air. Our room stewards were great and were very responsive to any requests that we had....filled ice bucket, extra towels, extra lotion, etc.

Port Reviews

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

Port Everglades is an easy port for embarkation. No problems.

Half Moon Cay

It was extremely hot at Half Moon the day we were there with no breeze. Did not stay on the beach long and skipped the bar b que luncheon. Just to hot to enjoy.

Aruba

The sunset cruise was pretty and I enjoyed the catamaran sail, however the seats were extremely uncomfortable and the snacks and drinks left a lot to be desired.

Colon (Cristobal)

Colon was a huge disappointment as there was not much to see or do. This is a very poor country and just seeing a poor dog that was skin and bones desperately looking for food was heartbreaking for me. Did not enjoy this port at all. The canal was interesting and seeing how the locks work and the "mules" was something that I am glad I got to see. That being said, been there done that and don't care to do again.
