Overall: We ended up pretty happy with our actual cruise. After all, Royal can't entirely be blamed for the Port Authority's lack of professionalism. We would definitely consider another cruise on Majesty after her refit next year just to see all the great new arrangements. I do think given how close that refit is now I would recommend to friends to wait until afterwards, but I am not really sorry we had the experience of seeing it beforehand. Really wanted to give a better overall rate because we had so much fun, but the seriousness of some of the issues just made that impossible.
Boarding - Big, big problems.
It was not even mentioned to us the ship was boarding late until we were aboard the bus. It was explained by the bus driver.
Pros:
Location was good with very little noise or motion.
Room Steward Jackie was awesome.
Room was always impeccably cleaned.
The linens looked clean and smelled fresh.
Bathroom seemed in good shape.
Cons:
Mattresses were very poor. I've slept on 20 year old canvas camp cots that didn't wallow out in the middle half as much. Hope they're going to replace those when they upgrade.
Had a great time visiting the Coral Castle. It was small, but filled with interesting sights. We really enjoyed how our guide explained everything and pointed out so many interesting tidbits.
We enjoyed a little shopping, had ice cream at a shop near the port, walked over to the Queen's Stair where we enjoyed taking a few pictures, and then had lunch at a little restaurant on the second floor over a shop with an open air covered dining area. We were lucky to have an awesome view of the Veteran's Day Parade. All the people in their gorgeous uniforms with the bright red poppies and the bands all playing upbeat music were lovely to see.
