All we have to say is a huge OMG for our Thanksgiving cruise! This is the second time on the Pearl, and yes, she's in need of a few touch-ups here & there but ... we love her & the crew! Although we've traveled extensively thru the Carribean - these were all new & exciting ports for us - Columbia, Panama Canal, Coata Rica, Honduras, Belize & Costa Maya - with NCL excursions in each. We flew in early & stayed in South Beach - great for just relaxing & roaming around to destress! We had secured cabin 9502 (forward suite) so we were welcomed with Priority boarding & lunch at Cagney's while waiting for our luggage! As always, the service was amazing & we were greeted with smiling faces - due to some mechanical situations & a emergency removed by ambulance (sad) - we departed Miami late but we had 2 wonderful & smooth days of sea & sun! We enjoyed our wine package & dining package (although we bought a 6 night package - we should have bought the 5 night package & just relaxed our dining in one night). All the ports were safe & very clean. WiFi wasn't readily available (unlike Greece) - but we were able to buy 1 hour for $5 in Honduras - we didn't search much in bars or restaurants - enjoying excursions & scenery was more important to us. Thanksgiving dinner was wonderful & typically served plated in Indigo restaurant - turkey was moist & I even enjoyed their dressing (ha ha). Due to our cruise status & cabin selection, we enjoyed the many amenities NCL offers and we enjoyed each of them! We caught nearly every show & a couple twice - the stage shows are great & Dennis the guitarist was really good! Bobby, our cruise director, was a joy, Thanks to NCL my birthday cruise true delight! Obviously we took advantage of the cruise again deal & bought another cruise for credit on the current cruise - it's the only way to sail!

Cabin Review

Penthouse with Large Balcony
Cabin SE 9502
We love the Penthouse suites & yes, 9502 has a king bed. Although the Owners Suite has 2 bathrooms & more space - this location was perfect for us. At times it was a bit windy for being on our massive forward deck - but then we just went out to the pool area. Our steward was probably the best we've had on any cruise & we hope to see him on the next!

I always do a bit of rearranging the furniture (tables & chairs) to fit our needs ... and I do love having a spot to sit while fixing my hair. The bathroom has plenty of space and what's more important... there is LOADS of drawer space & cubby holes for your things (important for a long cruise). We requested the refrige be cleaned out on the first day so we could store wine, water & lemons ... plus some of the extra fruit that was delivered. We do not use the mini bar supplies anyway - so having our own refrige is great!

  • Snorkeling
We had rain but who cares when there is clear warm water? Jolly Roger has a super crew - with great equipment. They are loads of fun - the lunch they served was devine & the rum freely! Music was great ... bus was comfy & they showed great concern for the untrained people. We had a blast!

  • Altun Ha
River Wallace & Altun Ha were both amazing - after the river (we saw tons of wildlife) - we had an amazing lunch and then ventured to the ruines ... great & awesome -- gave me chills to be walking thru this area & listening to our knowledgable Myan guides speak about their ancestors and the treasures found there.

Our guides were young but all three were Myans and very proud - so to listen to them speak and share their stories was a treasure in itself. It was a beautiful day! We ended the day with my hubby buying me an UN-Belizable diamond ring ... I hope this is all he plans on buying me for Christmas - especially after the other two birthday presents from this trip. He's a wonderful sailing partner

  • Panama Railway
Although we didn't see any wildlife ... this excursion was very relaxing and the best part was being able to actually visit & view the locks from above! Our guide was funny & the train was comfy & informative - we were glad to see different terrains!

  • Chacchoben Mayan Ruins
I'm only rating Very Good - although the ruines were interesting - the bus ride was 2 hours each way. We had read that information but after seeing the previous ruines, in hind site, we wish we had elected another activity - perhaps something else on the water (but that's just us). The bus was very comfortable & this tour guide had many, many pictures to show us and was extremely knowledgeable. He was interesting ... even for the long tour time!

  • Miami
We stayed at the Room Mate Waldorf on South Beach - cabbing from MIA to hotel & port & back to hotel. It's a great location & nice clean property! They offer beach chairs & towels at n/c and you can just walk across the street to the beach. We found a great deal at hotel.com for our stay.

  • Tortuguero National Park and Chocolate Experience
Although it had recently rained & I got eaten by leaf cutter ants - the tour was devine & our guide was spectatular! We learned all we could in the bus ride & more... I think he was the best guide we've ever had. The chocolate experience was extremely interesting & their snack was good! Coffee was amazing! We did see lots of wildlife along the way ... Howler Monkeys top the list!
