This was our first cruise on Royal Caribbean and we were nicely impressed. We have previously cruised on Carnival, Princess & Holland America. Our of the three Holland America is our favorite. On this cruise, our cabin was on deck 6 with a large veranda. The room was spacious with lot of storage space. Our room was always kept spotless by our very nice steward. The ship was well layer out and even though it carries a large number of passengers we were always surprised by how uncrowded the spaces seemed. RC seems to do a good job of distributing venues (food, entertainment, etc) throughout the ship rather than all at one end. The activities onboard were nice. We enjoyed the Rock Wall and the FlowRider although was a bit disappointed there weren't any tube slides into a larger pool although we did enjoy the solarium for quiet afternoon. We went to Dunn's River in Jamaica and it was a good excursion. In Grand Cayman we went to swim with Dolphins and to Stingray City, another nice excursion. The food onboard was great. The variety and abundance in the buffet was stunning. I don't know what some of the other reviewers expect but we never felt like we couldn't find something great to eat. As for the dining rooms, we were a bit disappointed and felt we could actually get better food in the buffet than that served in the dining room. I like going to the dinning room so this was a drag. We ate at Chops twice and Portifino's once. Both were delish with very attentive service. The entertainment on board the ship was pretty good. We enjoyed the ice show and the musical. The aerial show as amazing. The kids on board enjoyed the DreamWorks appearances (we didn't have kids with us but thought that was really nice for those that had theirs along). Our embarkation was a little time consuming in Galveston (mostly because the port is badly laid out). It took 2 hours to get on the ship. I'd suggest you not show up until 2 after the rush for a 4:30 departure. Otherwise you are just going to stand in line for hours. The disembarkation was perfectly handled. We were in our car very quickly with no problems. In summary, we had a great time. We will sail with RC again. As a matter of fact we booked a future cruise with 3 staterooms for our adult "kids" and their families. We felt like RC did a good job. One note: they are taking this ship into dry-dock in January for a month so that they can add more rooms. I'm hopeful that this will not effect the service or the feel of the ship and they don't take away any of the public areas that provide the sense of spaciousness that currently exists on the ship.

Nicely Impressed with RC

Cabin 6676
Very spacious with a large balcony. The balcony had two chairs with ottomans.

  • Dunn's River Falls
Great time, excellent tour guide. A bit of a challenge for those "larger or older" in our group but really fun and the guides were very helpful to all.

Such fun. Swimming with the dolphins was super fun. Only wish it had lasted longer!

Really interesting. Quite a ways out into the water before you get to the sandbar where the stingrays are. At first you think they are rocks but then realize there hundreds of these rays and they are huge! When you first get in it is a little creepy but you soon get used to them. It was an excellent tour and we learned a lot! Recommend.
