We arranged for a morning driving tour of Rome before proceeding to the port. Our bags were checked in with the cruise line at the airport and transferred to the ship for us. Our tour arrived at the port about an hour and a half prior to sailing so the check-in lines were minimal and check-in was fast and efficient. All bags were waiting in our cabin when we arrived.
The selection and quality of shore excursions were good, especially for a repositioning cruise. The most popular was by far the camel ride in Lanzarote. Very reasonably priced and well worth it.
The production entertainment on the ship was very good. The guest entertainers were nothing special. We had seen ALL of them before on prior transatlantic cruises.
Being the most forward cabin on the deck, the positioning of the cabin allowed for extended length of the cabin. That being said, the room was sparsely appointed and despite a lot of dead space, storage was minimal at best. The small sofa near the window was torn and worn with obvious stains. The beds were arranged in a single king configuration, however, the linens did not properly fit the bed.
Very good overview of Rome. A bus tour with one stop at Vatican City. A great way to break up the day before boarding the ship.
A nice overview of both Florence and Pisa.
Walking tour or Cartagena. A nice overview with plenty of time to go back and see things that caught your eye.
The camel ride was one of the highlights of the cruise.
