  3. Diamond Princess
My wife an I have travelled with Princess Lines (Dawn, Sea and Sun) on past occassions and were looking forward to our travels on Diamond due to the fact that it is a bigger and newer vessel. My review centres mainly on the configuration of the ship, the service provided by staff, entertainment and general atmosphere of the ship. Firstly if you are in the forward area of the ship, prepare to walk half a kilometre there and back to get yourself a cup of coffee. Unlike the aforementioned ships the only machines are in the horizon court buffet with nothing available elsewhere unless you are prepared to pay for their specialty varieties. The morale of the ships staff was lacking a preparedness to go that extra yard. Some in fact bordered on disinterest in the service of their clientele. Entertainment was luke warm at best with most acts less than acceptable. Open air entertainment was negligible and although there was an entertainment director on board he was nowhere to be seen for the entire 5 weeks. Dismal effort all around. The same can be said of the senior officers who chose to also remain invisible for the period. The configuration of the ship left a lot to be desired. Not anywhere near enough lounge space internally and obtaining a seat was nigh on impossible. Now I make no apologies for being a smoker but what diamond provided for the smokers on board was criminal. Out in the open with no protection for the incumbents and a space so small that once again most had to stand in the wind and rain to partake of their pastime. Cabins were better than the smaller ships but to no great degree. The ship rolls on wet grass probably due to the lack of use of the ships stabalisers. It appears that it is cheaper to run that way. All in all a pretty dismal experience which was echoed by many on board who vowed to never book on diamond again, including myself ofcourse.

Think again!!
