This was our first cruise of any kind and, overall, we were very happy. Because of low water conditions we were forced on two occasions to transit by bus, once to change vessels from Lofn to Vidar and once to hotel accomodation in Budapest.
We found the guides on all shore excursions to be very knowledgable and quite entertaining. The crew of the Lofn was outstanding - service was excellent and very prompt, attentive and considerate. While the crew of the Vidar was good, there was a noticable drop off in service quality. The same can be said of the quality of the food - outstanding on the Lofn; materially less good on Vidar.
All things considered, the arrangements for the transfer from Lofn to Vidar were handled very well. However, we were not happy with the hotel arrangements in Budapest. The hotel was located away from, and with no convenient access to, the city centre. Our luggage was misplaced. While a meal credit was provided for dinner in the hotel restaurant, the service was extraordinarily bad and we, along with several other guests from the cruise, eventually gave up and walked out. Other than the hotel bar, there were no other' dining' options. With luggage having to be made available in the hallway at 2 am and a 4 am departure for the airport, our stay in Budapest left us bored, hungry and exhausted.
Clean, quiet and comfortable. Excellent shower.
